New Priest in Charge Appointed for Heartland Churches

The Rt Rev Kevin Pearson, Bishop of the United Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway, is pleased to announce the appointment of the Rev Dr Lisa Joan Curtice as Priest-in-Charge of the Heartland Charge (St Mary’s, Port Glasgow, St Fillan’s, Kilmacolm, St Mary’s, Bridge of Weir). Her licensing will be on Thursday, 1 August, at 12noon hosted at St Mary the Virgin Church, Port Glasgow.

Lisa says, “I am excited to be moving to Heartland, as over the next three years, we will explore how to deepen our life and mission as one Charge. St Mary’s, Port Glasgow, St Fillan’s, Kilmacolm and St Mary’s, Bridge of Weir have already been on a significant journey together. I hope we can show God’s love in action by nurturing the presence that is already strong in each community, while building a strong identity for Heartland as a sign of co-operation and shared mission. As Regional Curate for Renfrewshire over the past three years, I have enjoyed getting to know all the charges of the Region, and I hope that these connections will continue to develop in future. I pray for the ministry of St John’s, Johnstone where I have been privileged to serve this year.”

Lisa continues her ministry in the Diocese having trained through the Scottish Episcopal Institute and served as Regional Curate in the Renfrewshire Region where her last Sunday will be Sunday 21 July when the Region will wish her well as she takes on this new role.

Bishop Kevin says, ”We are thrilled to be able to welcome Lisa into this new role as the Heartland Charge enters this new chapter of its mission and ministry. Lisa is well known in the life of our diocese and is a familiar face at diocesan gatherings and across the Renfrewshire Region. It is good to be able to harness the skills, gifts and talents that Lisa has to focus on the next chapter in the lives of the congregations in the Heartland Charge. It is with excitement that we look forward to seeing the next stage in the mission in that part of our diocese as Lisa and her husband John, move to the Rectory at Port Glasgow.”

Please pray for Lisa and John as they prepare to move to the Heartland Charge during the coming months.
