New Priest in Charge Appointed for St Margaret’s, New Galloway and All Saints, Challoch

The Rt Rev Kevin Pearson, Bishop of the United Diocese of Glasgow and Galloway, is pleased to announce the appointment of the Rev Dawn Rachel Matthew as Priest-in-Charge of St Margaret’s, New Galloway and All Saints, Challoch.

Her licensing will take place on Saturday 18 February 2023 at 11am in All Saints, Challoch and 3pm in St Margaret’s, New Galloway. She will begin her public ministry in the two charges on Sunday 26 February.

Dawn writes, “I am very much looking forward to joining the charges of St Margaret’s, New Galloway and All Saints, Challoch, and working with them to serve God together in our communities; sharing our faith and loving others as God loves us. My husband Nick, our family, and I are excited to be moving to Dumfries and Galloway, a part of Scotland that has become very dear to our hearts over the past few years. We have visited many times in our VW campervan!”

Dawn Rachel Matthew comes to the diocese from the Diocese of Leicester in the Church of England.

Bishop Kevin says, “We are delighted to be able to welcome Dawn into the life of our diocese after her service to the people of St John the Evangelist, Hinckley where she has led them through the pandemic experience with her wisdom, prayerfulness and calm pragmatism. She comes to the diocese with many years of experience in community engagement and managing community projects as a bedrock for ministry and mission. It will be great to have Dawn as part of our diocesan community.”

Please pray for Dawn, her family, and the community of St John’s, Hinckley, as she prepares to move to the rectory house in New Galloway in the coming weeks.
