Litter-Picking Campaign Reaches One Million Pieces Goal with Help from Church Volunteers

Congratulations to the South Ayrshire Clean-up Campaign volunteers who have achieved the tremendous goal of clearing one million pieces of litter in a year, a week ahead of schedule!

We are delighted also for the congregation of St Oswald’s Church, Maybole, whose members helped with individual and fortnightly group picks across Maybole and Carrick with Maybole Community Clean-Up in aid of the campaign.

Members of Maybole Community Clean-Up during one of their fortnightly group picks in summer 2021.

Every day a million pieces of litter are dropped across the UK, creating an unimaginable ecological and societal impact and costing over £1 billion to clean. Community efforts and awareness are a tangible way to work towards a world without litter.

We lift up in prayer all volunteers and community organisers. May they be strengthened and sustained in working for the common good, offering their gifts and talents with patience and understanding, with love and care for all people and the whole of Creation.

The state of the campaign as of Sunday, 16th January 2022, week 51 of the project via South Ayrshire Clean-Up Campaign.
A variety of interesting statistics discovered through the regular logging of litter picks across South Ayrshire via SACC.
