Bishop Kevin Offers Prayers to Those Affected by Floods in South Scotland

Responding to the widespread flooding across much of South Scotland, and particularly the Galloway region of our Diocese, Bishop Kevin said:

“Our hearts go out to those affected by the torrential rains in the last days, and our thanksgiving to those who have work hard to protect everyone. We pray for those whose lives and livelihoods have been changed as a result of the floods, and for those who are struggling with the situation.

“In the light of the upcoming COP26 climate crisis conference, we now pray for the wholeness of God’s Creation, that it may be restored and renewed in love and we may mend our fragile world together.”

Compassionate God, source of all comfort, we pray for the people whose lives are devastated by rain and flood. Bring them comfort. Protect the vulnerable. Strengthen the weak. Have mercy on all those working to rescue and protect others. And may our response to this suffering be generous and bring you praise, we ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
