Although the weather was a bit uncertain, there was no doubting the warmth of the welcome and hospitality at Elshieshields Tower near Lochmaben on Saturday 29 August.
Elshieshields was the venue for the first joint meeting of the Ministries Reflection groups that meet in the north and the south of the diocese. These groups are aimed at those in training for ordained or authorised ministry or those developing their ministry. Each group meets roughly once a month and use the time for worship, mutual support, reflection and the sharing of experience. Although the two groups operate in slightly different ways the aim is the same..
The Revd Ann Shukman made the facilities of Elshieshields available to the group and a pleasant afternoon was spent enjoying a barbecue, walking in the grounds and lots of conversations. The afternoon concluded with a discussion on how the two groups could work more closely, sharing resources as appropriate. Before departing, the group met in the ‘Upper Room’ in the tower for worship and prayer.
The only question remaining at the end of the afternoon was ‘When can we do this again?’
