The 2008 Diocesan Synod will be held at the Glynhill Hotel, Renfrew, on Saturday 8 March.
The agenda includes:
- Diocesan accounts and budget.
- Canons for Second Reading at General Synod in June.
- Canon 36: of incumbencies, joint incumbencies, and linked charges; Repeal of Canon 37; and consequential changes.
- Motions: “That this Synod approve the terms of the Covenant Partnership with St Andrew’s Church of Scotland, Irvine as proposed by St Andrew’s SEC congregation, and request its approval by the Inter-Church Relations Committee and General Synod in accordance with Canon 15, Resolution1.” “That this Synod consent to the Bishop declaring that St Columba’s, Clydebank, cease to be an Incumbency, in accordance with Canon 36.2”.
- Information on the Bishop’s Lenten Appeal (Macmillan Cancer Support); the Lambeth Conference; the Provincial Personnel Committee.
- A talk by the Scottish Churches Parliamentary Officer.
- Diocesan inputs from: the Information & Communications Network; the Stewardship Network; the Provincial Personnel Committee; Christian Aid; the MinistryAdvisory Group; the Church in Society Network; Mothers’ Union; Property Committee; visitors from Gothenburg.
- General Synod elections including Diocesan Representatives on the Provincial Faith & Order Board, the Provincial Admin Board, the Provincial I&C Board, and the Provincial Panel for Episcopal Elections.
