2012 Diocesan Synod – Headlines
- The annual Diocesan Synod was presided over by the Bishop, the Right Revd Dr Gregor Duncan, on Saturday 3rd March at The Barony College, Dumfries, and was attended by the Lay Reps of most charges, most of the clergy in the Diocese, and visitors from other denominations and from our companion diocese of Gothenburg.

Lay Readers “At Home”
- On Friday evening November 18th Bishop Gregor hosted a very successful informal “wine and nibbles at home” for Diocesan Lay Readers and their spouses - the first time in living memory that such an event has been held.

Lead theft at St John’s, Baillieston
- On the night of Sunday 18th September, thieves were once again on the roof of St John's Episcopal Church in Baillieston, removing lead only recently replaced following a major theft in March this year when most of the lead was ripped from the south side of the building. “We had only just began to dry out the walls which were soaked by rainfall following the theft of lead from our roof in March” said the Rev Andrew Richardson, the Rector of St John’s “the internal damage to the building is horrendous, the walls became so wet that radiators fell off and now we are contemplating further damage and further repair bills. This is not a victimless crime.”

King James Bible Reading Marathon at All Saint’s, Bearsden
- What started out as a simple brain-storming annual fund-raising exercise turned out into a week-long Marathon!
When Vestry Secretary Mairi Ross and a few members of the Vestry and congregation got together to discuss the annual fund-raising event, little did they realise what they were letting themselves in for!
In the past they had successfully promoted Fetes and Fayres, Concerts and Suppers until Mairi hit upon the bright idea that as 2011 was the 400th Anniversary of the publication of the KJV why not try a Bible Reading event to celebrate it?

St Cuthbert’s, Cambuslang : Congregational Walk at Whitelee Windfarm, Eaglesham.
- Thirteen adults, two teenagers and two dogs set off in pooled cars to walk round the routes at Whitelee Windfarm on a very sunny Saturday in early July.
It was a day to appreciate alternative energy resources and to get fit!

St Boniface Trust - Essay Competition
- Following the setting up of the Anglican Ordinariate, St Boniface Trust has been concerned that yet more divisions are being created within both the Anglican Church and the Roman Catholic Church. The Trust feels that more attention needs to be paid to the understanding of Anglicanism as a distinctive witness in a time when its self understanding is at a low ebb.
There is a degree of urgency and to further this understanding it is offering a prize of £1,000 which will go to the writer of an essay of about 5,000 words on the subject

- The new rate for Diocesan mileage has increased to 45p per mile from 7th May 2011. This is in line with HMRC guidelines.
